Opposition Says it will Boycott Vote on 3 Major Bills

Heads of opposition factions in the Knesset announced, Sunday evening, that their parties will boycott debate and voting on three major proposals scheduled for this week. The legislation in question would raise the threshold for Knesset representation to four percent, expand hareidi national service and require a referendum on any peace agreement that calls for land concessions.

Referring to enforced coalition discipline on the votes, the opposition leaders issued a statement that read, "Although this opposition is not homogeneous, we are all united around a struggle for maintaining democracy. The coalition is weak and hysterical, where no one trusts each other, which tries to pass laws through political brutality."
