Jordan Valley Mayor: Prepare for Construction Freeze

David Elhayani, head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council, said on Wednesday that he believes a second construction freeze is coming. He told Arutz Sheva news that sources in the government told him not to continue planning processes for new homes.

Elhayani complained that empty lots are awaiting new housing units and that in some areas, the maximum capacity allowed by zoning laws have been reached despite a demand for more units. He said that young people in towns such as Tomer and the nearby community of Petza'el seek to remain in the communities they were raised in but find no available homes upon returning from the army or college.
