Nabil Sha'ath: Better to Keep Talking Without Agreement

Former chief negotiator Nabil Sha'ath of the Palestinian Authority (PA) said, Monday evening, that the conditions for extending talks between the PA and Israel were freeing PA prisoners from Israeli custody and freezing Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria (Shomron).

Speaking at Tel Aviv University, Sha'ath said the PA would prefer to continue talks without a framework agreement than with the framework agreement currently contemplated by Secretary of State John Kerry of the United States. He said if Kerry fails, it won't be the end of the world and the sides will have to seek other avenues. He proposed an international conference such as the one held recently on the civil war in Syria.
