Writer, actor and director Harold Ramis has passed away at the age of 69 from a rare autoimmune disease.
Among his best-known roles was Egon Spengler of Ghostbusters and Russel Ziskey in Stripes. His directing and writing credentials include Analyze This, Groundhog Day and Caddyshack. He was the original main writer for television's SCTV (in which he performed, as well), and was one of the three screenwriters in National Lampoon's Animal House.
His agent has reported he died of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels.
