The Knesset today (Monday) inaugurated the new lounge for its International Wing. The lounge is meant to serve the many heads of state and world leaders who come to the Knesset. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein.
The decision to construct the new lounge was made by MK Edelstein, who stressed the importance he attaches the international relations the Knesset is involved in, in view of the fact that the 19th Knesset, which has only been in power one year, which has hosted and heard speeches from visitors such as French President Francois Hollande, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, President of the European Parliament Martin Shulz, and is soon expecting the Speaker of the Russian Duma (legislative body), Sergei Naryshkin.
Edelstein expressed his pleasure at the event saying, "I am happy that the Knesset has again become the central institution through which world leaders choose to speak before the people of Israel."
