Lawyer: Rimonim Shooting Could Have Been Avoided

Attorney Orit Hayoun, who represented Samuel Sheinbein, the prisoner who shot three people before he was killed in a shootout at Rimonim Prison, attacked the Prisons Service, Monday, for their handling of the situation. Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, she said she talked to Sheinbein an hour before the incident and feared he was under psychological pressure but her attempts to warn prison officials were to no avail. Hayoun said Sheinbein's recent attempt to grab a gun should be investigated.

Hayoun said it wasn't necessary to kill her client, explaining that the 120 guards present had other ways to neutralize him.
