Chief Rabbi: Cell Phones Interfere with Torah Study

Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yoseph said, Sunday, that having a cellular telephone causes interference with Torah study . Speaking at a conference, Rabbi Yoseph said that he does not carry a cell phone all the time.

The chief rabbi spoke out against teachers and religious-court judges who have cell phones without Internet filters, adding that the judges should not go to judges' conferences with such devices. He told the yeshiva heads that students should not bring cell phones when they study, and if they do, they should, at least, turn them off.
