The Ministerial Committee on Legislation endorsed, Sunday, a bill by the Ministry of Environmental Protection requiring that a person take proper training and pass tests in order to to qualify for a personal, non-transferable license as an exterminator. The legislation is a result of the fumigation death of two Jerusalem girls, last month.
An exterminator must display the license to a client. Refresher courses are a requirement for license renewal. If approved, violators will face a year in jail and a fine of 904,000 shekels. The ministry can add fines and other sanctions of up to 10,000 shekels on an individual and 50,000 on a company.
