The Ministerial Legislative Committee will today (Sunday) discuss the amendment to the Organ Donor Law, which states that anyone who has not signed a form refusing permission will automatically have his organs donated upon his death. The proposal was initiated by MK's Merav Michaeli (Labor), Yariv Levin (Likud), and others.
Under the bill, the Ministry of Health, upon approval, will send notice to all citizens over the age of 18 which will explain his right to refuse to participate in the program. Signed refusal forms will be sent to the National Tranplant Center. Those who do not sign the form will automatically have their organs removed and donated upon their death.
