Immigrant Absorption Minister Sofa Landver will present awards to new olim (immigrants) for their work in visual arts, music, dance, photography, theater, cinema and literature. Each winner will receive 15,000 NIS.
Landver stated that the Ministry of Immigration strives to encourage integration after making aliyah to Israel, while also acknowledging the struggle of living to a new country.
The award is in memory of Member of Knesset Yuri Shtern, an immigrant from the former Soviet Union who died from cancer in 2007. He was the founder of the Soviet Jewry Information Center and the Christian Allies Caucus.
