Major Bus Changes in Jerusalem Friday, Lines Cancelled

This Friday, the buses in Jerusalem will be going through major changes, with the elimination of many long standing lines and the addition of new lines. Many lines will be rerouted so as to feed commuters onto the light rail. Bus #4, after almost 80 years of traveling down Emek Refaim, will be replaced. Bus #38A to the Western Wall will cancelled and replaced.

About nineteen existing bus lines will have changes in their routes. Six lines will be cancelled and two new lines will be added. Changes will be implemented Friday, February 21, 2014.

The previous major bus schedule changes took place on November 2012 and prior to that, in June of 2012

The changes are part of the Jerusalem Transport Master Plan which will reportedly eliminate most vehicles in the downtown area, and expand the light rail to replace bus lines. The implementation has be conducted with he Ministry of Transportation, the Jerusalem Municipality, Egged, and CityPass.

The bus line hotline is *8787. For new bus route pamphlets in English the public can call 073-233-1444 or visit www.jet.gov.il.
