46 Months for Setting Fire to Hadera Mayor's Car

The Haifa Disctrict Court today (Tuesday) sentenced 24-year-old Hadera resident Doron Rad Telat to 46 months prison after being convicted for setting fire to the car of former Hadera mayor Haim Avitan.

Telat was also convicted in the arson of municipal warehouses which were holding supplies for the Purim "Adeloyada" Parade (The name is derived from the rabbinic saying (Meg. 7b) that one should revel on Purim until one no longer knows (ad de-lo yada) the difference between "Blessed be Mordecai" and "Cursed be Haman." The first Adloyada was held in Tel Aviv (1912) and spread to other communities in Israel. It is celebrated by carnival processions with decorated floats through the main streets, accompanied by bands.)
