General Yoseph Geva', who last active duty in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was as military attache to the United States and Canada, passed away, Monday, at the age of 90. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery with full military honors. Six generals will act as pall bearers. He is survived by a wife and four children.
A native of Austria, Geva' emigrated to the land of Israel in 1939 at the age of 15 and became a member of the Haganah militia. During the War of Independence, he commanded two companies of the IDF's Giv'ati Brigade and became the brigade's commander in the years before it was dissolved in 1956. Before his assignment in North America, he headed the Central Command.
