Professor Elhanan Meir, who served for a long time as chairman of the Psychologists' Federation and the Psychologists' Council, passed away, Monday evening in Jerusalem, at the age of 78. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Jerusalem's Har Hamenuchot cemetery.
Combining his psychological studies with sociology and statistics, Professor Meir had a record number of publications. Parallel to his academic career, he was a Torah scholar who served as a gabbai (sexton) in the Yad Tamar synagogue in Jerusalem and, with his wife, engaged in charitable activities. Following his retirement, he devoted his time to study in the hesder yeshiva in the southern Hevron Hills community of Otniel, learning alongside the draft-age students and giving a weekly lesson in the Torah portion of the week with his psychological insights. Those lessons became the basis for a series of booklets, among his later publications.
