The authority for motor vehicle and driver's licenses will be closed, Tuesday and Wednesday, to allow the upgrading of the Transportation Ministry's computer system. Uzi Yitzhaki, the ministry's executive director, said the upgrade is intended to improve and expand computer services to the public.
While behind-the-wheel driving tests will take place, the theoretical tests will not, and vehicle transfers at the postal bank will not be possible. Telephone and internet licensing will not be possible, nor will licensing services at car importers or Super-Pharm. Also affected are offices dealing with civil aviation and boating. Some services will be available on a regular basis. The ministry's telephone hotline (*5678) will be in operation but answers requiring a computer will not be available. The offices are scheduled to return to normal on Thursday.
