Hember of Knesset Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) rejected, Friday, a reported proposal by Justice Minister Tzipi Livni to replace the Jewish Home in the coalition with the hareidi-religious Shas and United Torah Judaism parties.
Responding to a Ma'ariv report that Livni said she was willing to wear a shtreiml [hareidi hat -ed.], Ariel said, "During the [Jewish] month of Adar and the atmosphere of Purim, even the justice minister is allowed to dress up and make believe." He continued, "My friends and I would also be happy to see the hareidim in the government next to the Jewish Home. She can do the calculation herself at the expense of which faction." Livni's Hatenu'ah faction numbers six members, compared to Jewish Home's 12, United Torah Judaism's seven and Shas's 11.
