Chairwoman Ayelet Shaked of the Jewish Home Knesset faction criticized the Danish government, Friday, for its announcement on Thursday that it would ban the kosher method of slaughter, effective next week. She said, "Recently there was a discussion in Israel of a proposed law to ban fur imports to Israel. The Danes, who are the world's largest murderers of animals for fur, strongly opposed the Israeli law, claiming that if Israel would be a light unto the nations and enact such a law, there is the concern of a slippery slope."
Shaked continued, "To slaughter animals for a coat is permitted. To eat it's not. The height of hypocrisy."
