      Approved: Minister of Justice Able to Appoint Retired Judge to Additional Term


      The Knesset Law, Constitution and Justice Committee today (Wednesday) approved the second and third readings of a bill submitted to the government.

      According to the proposed bill, the Minister of Justice, with the approval of the Supreme Court, will be allowed to appoint an associate judge who has retired from the bench for an additional four-year term. The Judicial Nominations Committee can only appoint a judge for an additional two-year term.  

      The age of the judge shall not exceed 75 years old.
