Deputy Minister of Education, MK Avi Vortzman (Jewish Home) participated today (Tuesday) with other legislators, in a special conference held in Be'er Sheva devoted to the issue of Child Welfare at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
"A family is comprised of two parents and a child," Vortzman said in response to a complaint made by Chairman of the Committee for Public Petitions, MK Adi Koll (Yesh Atid), who said it was discrimination to not award tax credits to a same sex couple. The Tax Authority had written to two men who share custody of a child and were requesting a tax credit, that in order to be eligible for a tax credit, they should find a woman to file with. MK Koll called for a solution to put an end to this type of discrimination.
"You are not the one who defines what a family is," Koll called out in response to MK Vortzman statement that "a family is made up of a mother, a father and a child."
