Chairman of Ashdod Port Not to Receive Order of Protection

State Comptroller, Judge Yosef Shapiro, has decided to not grant to Gidon Sitterman, Chairman of the Ashdod Port Company, Ltd., an order of protection, having concluded that his case does not meet the legal criteria to receive one. It should be noted that this statue was meant to protect whistleblowers, who, as a result of having reported corruption, has found himself in danger of being either harmed or fired.

Sitterman had requested the order of protection after having been called to appear before the Government Companies Authority (GCA), as a step towards terminating him from his position as the Chairman of the Directorate of the Ashdod Port.

After carefully examining the appeal the State Comptroller in his capacity as Ombudsman concluded that this case does not meet the conditions demanded by law for an order of protection.
