Changing Criteria for Aid is Hurting Hareidim and Arabs

MK Hanna Swaid (Hadash) claims that making the renting of a relative's apartment a basis for denial of housing aid is hurting the country's most vulnerable populations.

In a meeting of the Knesset Economics Committee  this morning (Monday), MK Hanna Swaid (Hadash), head of the committee, stated how the Housing Ministry's refusal to help these people harms the the weakest sector of society.

The MK opened the meeting explaining that ten days ago, on February 1, 2014, the criteria for eligibility for receiving help from the Housing Ministry had changed. The main thing, he explained, was that as of the beginning of this month, anyone who rented from his parents, his in-laws, his children or their spouse's would no longer be eligible for help.
