A colonel in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reserves faces a disciplinary hearing following the discovery that he took sensitive materials home, against IDF orders, according to a Monday-morning report by IDF Radio. During a discussion with the military comptroller, the veteran of a number of Israel's wars was asked to prevent findings about himself but told those involved that the materials were at home.
The colonel was suspended during the investigation of the case, which determined that no criminal charges would be filed and he recently returned to his unit. He is awaiting a hearing before Deputy Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkott who will determine the future of his reserve duty. The IDF Spokesperson's Office issued a statement that the IDF takes a serious view of deviations from proper information-security procedures.
