Chairman of the Teacher's Federation, Ran Erez, released a letter this morning (Thursday) to member teachers that last night certain agreements were reached for the implementation of the "Dare to Change" program with the Ministries of Finance and Education, respectively.
The first change of the reform to be made is the conversion of 40 hours into 40 lessons. Under the agreement, all of the teacher's duties, including preparation, teaching and support, will be given within the framework of a 45 minute lesson with a short break following. If, on any day, the teacher finishes the entire day's schedule before 4 p.m., s/he will be able to go home and not be forced to stay.
It was also agreed to that over the next two years, joining the program would be on a voluntary, not mandatory, basis. Schools which have 50% of teacher support for joining the program will be able to do so.
