Lod City Touts Diversity Amid Soccer Security Concerns

Fans of local football (soccer) in Lod are hoping their new stadium will host their upcoming quarter finals between Beitar Yerushayalim and Bnei Lod. But on Wednesday, Lod police officials held a special discussion regarding security and recommended that the game not take place in the city.

However the Bnei Lod team management is hoping that the game will take place on their turf, even going so far as to threaten to not play at all.

The mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo stated, "Lod is a mosaic of cultures with Jews and Arabs living together in the city." He pointed out that "the whole point of the game" is that it be played in the home team's home town.
