The Ministry of Health has reported that in 2012 there were 2.9 million visits to the country's emergency rooms. 2.5 million were not birth-related.
According to their statistics, the Ministry said that the bulk of visits involved infants under the age of one year. The next demograph was people between the ages of 18 to 34, and then amongst seniors over the age of 75. Children aged 5 to 17 had the lowest rate. The stats also showed more males than females reported for emergency care.
