The Israel Antiquities Authority has uncovered a 1,400-year-old well near Tel Aviv at Ramat Hahayal, which they consider to have been 'top of the line' for its time.

During IAA archeological salvage excavations recently taking place on Barzel Street in Ramat Hahayal before the construction of a medical center for the Sufrin Group, an ancient well was uncovered which was used in the Byzantine and Early Islamic period (1400-1110 years ago). According to Elie Haddad, director of the excavation on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority, "This finding, called Antilla, which has now been uncovered for the first time in Tel Aviv, adds information about aspects of everyday life in the Yarkon 1400-1200 years ago, including agriculture.
