Garage Owner Indicted in Bribery for Entry Permits Case

The Prosecutors' Office in the Central District filed an indictment, Tuesday, against Ali Zeid of Magshimim, east of Tel Aviv, charging him with bribery and aiding illegal entry to areas within the 1949 Armistice Line. According to the indictment Zeid asked a soldier in October for assistance in obtaining permits for employees at his garage to leave the Palestinian Authority (PA). The soldier agreed, asking Zeid help transfer an envelope of money from a resident of the PA city of Kalkilye so that the soldier could illegally issue the permit to the Kalkilye resident.

Zeid is accused of going to Kalkilye six times to bring money for the soldier with the knowledge that the money was to pay for permits that were being issued to PA residents who were otherwise not authorized to cross the 1949 Armistice Line for various reasons, including those of security.
