Ministers Endorse End to 'Freshly Thawed' Meat

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation endorsed, Sunday, a proposal by Member of Knesset Zevulun Kalfa (Jewish Home) that would require that packages of meat sold in stores would be clearly labelled as "fresh", "frozen", or "thawed" frozen meat which underwent a thawing process and is not to be freezed again.

MK Kalfa said, "This law will help consumers in their day-to-day dealing with the cost of living and give them another tool to assist in the purchase of food products." He added, "We often fall into the trap of purchasing meat as if it is fresh despite the fact that it thawed meat. The bill is designed to prevent this deception."
