      Dollars Up; Shekel, Yen, Pound, Euro Down

      The official value of the shekel declined an average of .047 percent, Friday, in mixed trading against the other currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3,498, up .172 percent from Thursday's rate, while the Euro dropped .225 percent to 4.7385 shekels.

      The pound sterling was fixed at 5.7558 shekels, down .03 percent, while 100 Japanese yen edged up .009 percent to NIS 3.409. The Canadian dollar stood at NIS 3.1273, up .154 percent, its Australian counterpart advanced .062 percent to 3.0639 shekels, and the South African rand rebounded .968 percent from Thursday's loss to NIS .3129.
