The Hearing Committee of the ORT educational network announced, Thursday evening, following a second hearing on allegations of incitement against the Israel Defense Forces, that teacher Adam Werte will keep his job at the Kiryat Tiv'on high school with a warning about future incidents. ORT said, in a statement, that Werte apologized to his students Thursday morning and retracted some of the things he said.
The case came up when student Sapir Sabah complained that Werte accused the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) of being immoral. Werte told a hearing he did not say that the IDF was immoral but that there were immoral things that the IDF has done. He told the media after the hearing that the only way to attract good teachers was to allow them to express themselves without fear, allowing that all sides have to be respected. Sabah said she stood behind the words of her complaint, and even though she talked to the teacher later, it did not mean they had made up.
