Patrick Martin, the Mideast Bureau Chief of Canada's Globe and Mail called rocket attacks from Gaza "just a nuisance." He made the comments last Wednesday in a video interview regarding the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to Israel.
Martin stated that in addition to visiting Sderot, the Israeli city often besieged by Gaza rocket fire, he should have also seen the border with Gaza because Gaza residents "really are in a kind of siege situation." He added the rockets "are fired by various groups inside Gaza protesting Israeli policy or just causing a nuisance."
Numerous Canadians have complained about the statements including Honest Reporting Canada.
According to BBC news, since the year 2001, thirteen Israeli civilians have been killed by Gaza rocket fire and hundreds have been injured. This does not include the numerous shooting incidents including a civilian who was shot and killed by a Gaza sniper along the border in late December.
