Minister Naftali Bennett, Chairman of the Bayit Yehudi Party, clarified at a Convention of the Center for National Security research that he remains of the opinion that leaving settlements under Palestinian sovereignty is not legitimate - "Leaving Jews to live under foreign sovereignty is a U-turn for Zionism," Bennett emphasized. He indicated that the 1929 massacres demonstrate that this idea is an impossibility from a security standpoint. "What has happened to us, what are the implications of raising such ideas? Why should Jews in Tel Aviv dwell under Jewish sovereignty while Jews in Hebron and Eli will not be privileged to do the same?" he wondered.
