Suspected Malpractice at Rambam Hospital Results in Erroneous Mastectomy

An act of suspected medical negligence in a laboratory at Haifa's Rambam Hospital resulted in an unnecessary masectomy and reconstructive surgery for a cancer-free woman, while leaving the cancer patient ignorant of her situation.

The hospital's responded as follows, "This complaint was first made ​​known to us today through the Channel 10 news. Since it is a most serious allegation, it requires a thorough investigation into the matter to determine exactly what has taken place." The Ministry of Health, too, responded to the Channel 10 news item saying that the matter would have to be gone into in depth, and that a review committee would be set up to evaluate the findings.
