Egypt Releases US Interpreter Arrested Last Week

A 26-year-old American interpreter who had been arrested last Wednesday together with the Egyptian director with whom he shared accommodation in Cairo has been released from custody.

 Upon his release, the young man said he still did not know why he had been arrested, and added that he feared for the director's well being, as he was still being held in custody. According to the American, the authorities have been aggresively interrogating the director, trying to tie him to terrorist organizations in the Sinai Peninsula.
