Pentagon Approves Kippah for US Soldiers

The US Pentagon approved this evening (Thursday) the donning of a kippah/yalmukah (head covering for Jewish men) for soldiers in the US Army, according to a report by Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).

The Pentagon spokesman announced in the news release that the US Army should "reflect the unique religious characteristics of each soldier."

From this point on, soldiers will be allowed to sport beards, long hair, skullcaps, and even tattoos - so long as they have religious significance.
