Meretz: So Bennett is the New Minister of Finance Now?

Following the cancellation of the severe cuts to Yeshivot (Torah learning institutions) that were to have befallen the religious community in the 2014 budget, MK Michal Rosen (Meretz), spoke her mind. "After betraying the middle class, the LGBT community, and Israeli advocates of peace, Yair Lapid is also turning his back on his promise to separate religion and state," MK Rosen fumed.

The sharp criticisms came in the wake of a report made earlier today (Thursday) that Finance Committee Chairman Nissan Slomiansky , Economy Minister MK Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked finally agreed yesterday with representatives of the Ministry of Finance, that the funds determined for the Yeshiva community will remain at the 2013 levels this year, even though the government's original submission for 2014 included a 30% decrease in funding.
