C'tee: Consumer Price Should Guide Franchise Bids

The Knesset Economics Committee recommended, Tuesday, that the price consumers pay be factored into bids for sales franchises at public institutions such as hospitals and railroad stations. The recommendation followed an urgent hearing generated by recent reports of inflated prices charged to the "captive markets" in these situations.

It was also agreed that the committee prepare a basket of standard products and the relevant bodies will report on the prevailing prices in the market.
