President Shim'on Peres hosted Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Tuesday morning, for a working meeting on increasing cooperation between the two countries. In a statement at the start of the meeting, Peres said, "We are at a critical time; your visit here and in the Palestinian Authority will help us progress towards peace. Israel and the world are united around the two state solution."
Harper said that Canada and Israel share multiculturalism and contrasted Israel's small space and vast history with Canada's vast expanse and little history. He expressed agreement with Peres that the future must be based on information economy, science and cutting-edge technology. He said there was no better example than Israel in economy and technology to ensure the future.
