Ron Prosor, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, said, Tuesday morning, that Iran embarrassed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon regarding its participation in talks to end Syria's civil war. Ban said, Monday, that he was disappointed that Iran would rather not participate in the talks than come out in favor of a transition government to replace Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. Interviewed by Kol Yisrael government radio, Prosor said that the Tehran government continues to lie and cheat and that "one does not need to be Sherlock Holmes to understand that its fingerprints are to be found almost everywhere in the Middle East where there's violence."
Prosor's Tuesday comments echoed remarks made Monday evening, when he told the UN Security Council than nothing has changed in the Islamic Republic since Hassan Rouhani became president. Prosor noted that 367 of the 600 executions carried out in Iran in the past year took place since Rouhani took office. For more about the executions, click here.
