Opposition to Restricting Small Knesset Parties

The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee held a hearing on Monday regarding the new bill to raise the electoral  threshold. Member of Knesset Adi Kol (Yesh Atid) expressed strong opposition to the proposal. The new bill would raise the minimum percentage of votes needed to make it into the 120-seat Knesset. This would eliminate smaller parties with only two or three representatives. The two smallest parties are currently Kadima with two seats and the Balad party with three seats.
