      Shekel, Yen, US Dollar Up; Euro, Pound Down

      The official value of the shekel rose an average of .091 percent, Friday, against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.489, down .086 percent from Thursday's rate, while the Euro declined .143 percent to 4.7448 shekels.

      The pound sterling was set at 5.6947 shekels, down .182 percent, while 100 Japanese yen advanced .168 percent to NIS 3.3439. The Australian dollar recovered a little from Thursday's fall by gaining .189 percent to NIS 3.0726, while its Canadian counterpart was fixed at 3.1901 shekels, down .175 percent, and the South African rand rose .219 percent to NIS .3208.
