Israeli-Canadian Scientist Named Wolf Prize Winner

Education Minister Shai Piron announced on Thursday the winners of the Wolf Prize in Arts and Sciences for 2014. Eight scientists from four countries won the prize, including Israeli-Canadian scientist Professor Nahum Sonenberg.

Sonenberg, a professor at Montreal’s McGill University, won the prize in medicine for his discovery of the proteins that control the protein expression mechanism and their operation. The Wolf Prize is considered the most prestigious award in science after the Nobel Prize.
