Jerusalem City Executive Yossi Heiman informed Mayor Nir Barkat, Thursday, of his intention to step down and go off in a new direction after three years in the position. Heiman's resignation will become effective following a transition period with the incoming director general.
Barkat intends to nominate City Attorney Amnon Merhav to replace Heiman. Merhav has served as deputy mayor of Modi'in, holding the education portfolio there. He also chaired Modi'in's municipal corporation for economic development.
