      Shekel, Pound Down; US Dollar Outpaces Euro, Yen

      The official value of the shekel declined an average of .142 percent, Thursday, against most of the other featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list. The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.492, up .258 percent from Wednesday's rate, while the Euro rose .23 percent to 4.7516 shekels.

      The pound sterling was set at 5.7051 shekels, down .26 percent, while 100 Japanese yen slipped .048 percent to NIS 3.3383. The Canadian dollar was fixed at NIS 3.1957, up .623 percent, while its Australian counterpart fell 1.297 percent to 3.0668 shekels. The Norwegian krone was set at .5664 shekels, down .579 percent, and the South African rand advanced .063 percent to NIS .3201.
