The Keter Institute of Economics According to the Torah issued a publication on Wednesday ruling that according to halacha, (Jewish Law) there is no problem with firing a striking illegal immigrant. Rabbi Shlomo Ishon, the head of the institute studied the Jewish precepts that govern proper business practices and the just treatment of employees to determine his conclusions. He said that since the striking employees are non-citizens who snuck over the border and have no legal working permits, then there is not problem with firing them and replacing them with legal workers in this context. Under different circumstances, legal workers, however, should be protected. The issue has come to the forefront following the illegal immigrant strike last week and the ongoing protest marches by the migrants this week.
