Rival Arabs groups are continuing their practice of firing weapons into the air for both celebrations and for other reasons, according to a report on Ajnad News. One incident in particular occurred at the beginning of the January in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Anan. Residents reported that automatic weapon fire took place to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the Fatah movement. The weapon firing is linked to rivalries between groups active in neighboring communities. Although Beit Anan is officially part of the Jerusalem municipality, it borders on areas under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority of which Fatah is the largest party.
