Numerous former soldiers of General Ariel Sharon have come out to praise their commander including those speaking at Monday's funeral and official military ceremony. Sharon passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday. Arutz Sheva - Israel National Radio also conducted several exclusive interviews with former soldiers. On Sunday's live episode of the Tamar Yonah Show, Mordechai Ben Menachem related a story of how he met the general. "I was in the field for 12 hours in the dust," he stated, "and suddenly there's a tap on my shoulder and it was Ariel Sharon. I was just a private and couldn't really speak Hebrew. But he said to me, like any grandfather, 'soldier, you're all dirty and smelly. Can I help you?'"
Dr. Mike Cohen, another former soldier who served under Sharon described other impressive anecdotes, including a helicopter flight with George Bush.
