Education Ministry Gearing Up for Computerized Texts

The Ministry of Education is gearing up for a switch to computerized textbooks to be made available free of charge in the coming school year, according to a Thursday evening report by Channel 10 Television. The ministry has converted textbooks to which it holds the copyrights and tried the approach under a pilot program in 100 schools around the country.

The ministry will buy rights to all the popular textbooks in every subject for every age group and make them available to every student's computer. One of the advantages of computerization will be to update books at a moment's notice as dictated by current events.
