Police are investigating serious vandalism that was discovered, Friday morning, in two synagogues in the small community of Ezer, inland between the port cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon in the southern part of central Israel.
A worshiper who arrived at one of the synagogues discovered that it had been broken into, the door of the ark where the Torah scrolls were kept had been ripped off, and the scrolls had been torn and thrown on the floor. Other ritual objects were also thrown about and damaged. A check of an adjacent synagogue, housed in a caravan demobilized trailer, revealed similar damage. There were no immediate suspects.
