Delay in Reform that Would Create New Water Authorities

Chairwoman Miri Regev of the Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee reached agreement with Finance Minister Ya'ir Lapid and Infrastructure Minister Silvan Shalom, Monday, to delay by half a year, implementation of water reform that was supposed to go into effect in three weeks. One of the reforms was a requirement that local governments create water authorities.

The delay will help 50 local authorities to avoid breaking the law. During the extension, Regev will try to repeal the water-authority portion of the reform.
